“The Discovery Concert was the best child-centered symphony I have ever been to (that is saying something in 32 years of teaching!).

Crafting a delightful musical experience that engaged, entertained, and educated third and fourth graders is no small feat! Thank you for providing an opportunity for them to fall in love with music and inspiring them to want to play it.”

We took our toddler to his first concert at the Boulder Symphony's "The Good, The Bad, And The Music" and were blown away by how fantastic the performance was, how engaged all the children were, and how much our 18 month old learned during the show. Not usually a fan of sitting for any period of time, my kid watched the whole show and learned how to conduct an orchestra with his pencil baton. Well, maybe not conduct (I learned it's way more complicated than I thought!;) but he did learn how to say 'baton' and wave the baton to start the music. In the car on the way home, my husband kept remarking "I wish we had had shows like this when I was a kid." We are so lucky to have a symphony orchestra like this in our community, and even luckier still that they have such great children's programming. 10/10 recommend!

“They LOVED it! The kids loved the music, the acting, and the slides, it was very engaging! It was fun and funny. They loved seeing the instruments we learned about in class, and loved the two main characters and the story that went with the music.”

“Our grandchildren, ages 12, 9, 7, and 6, had a great time seeing the instruments and being able to play many of them. I really appreciated the children's participation. Mr. Hughes was so kind to include them and really help educate them and give them a chance to understand and enjoy music.

We appreciated Mr. Hughes's enthusiasm. I also enjoyed hearing the different instruments being singled out to play by themselves. Who would have thought you could bring the sound of a train and a horse's whip come to life!”

— Tami Smith, Mom attending a Family Concert

“Very educational and fun music for all ages, what a great way to spend an afternoon with family attending a concert! A wonderful way to share a celebration of a holiday with family and friends.  The Symphony creates a learning environment for young people as well as the older folks who become informed about classical music of all types!”
